Album Notes

This track aims to combine the jazz saxophone tradition with a more funky, modern vibe. Throughout my life, I have immersed myself in the language of Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, Michael Brecker and Nigel Hitchcock. I have now taken this language and harmony and tried, with this track, to give the melody and solos a more modern feel.

My alto sax is accompanied by electric piano and synths, drums, extra percussion (shakers, bongo etc), electric bass, guitar. The chorus is padded out with 3 flutes and a clarinet providing some support and at the end, the strings kick in to keep things moving along.

If I had to say which artist most inspired me when writing this track, I would have to say David Sanborn. I adore his sound and approach to the horn and I try as much as I can to get across some of the things he does every time I play.
