ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is a solo project. Almost everything is written, sung, played, recorded and produced by Eric Blackmer.
Who is Eric Blackmer?
Eric Blackmer began playing guitar because of the Beatles. In high school in the late 60s he was in the band Simonpure, with David Frank later of the System. In the early 70s he played hot single cylinder rock and roll with Velocette. Then later with Art Attack, he backed up Slaphappy at the Charles Playhouse in Boston. Blackmer was partnered with Lucy Sollogub in a dulcimer and guitar duo known as Coleus and the Unicorn,. Then for several decades marriage and family took precedence. In the late 90s Blackmer began performing again with Full Cold Moon, an acoustic trio playing original & Celtic music .
Then things changed.
For Eric Blackmer...
“The 00s was a particularly difficult time. My life came apart. Airplanes flew into buildings. My professional career took an abrupt turn, then another. My 30 year marriage disintegrated. My concept of my own place in the world was shattered. Music became my safe haven. Literally, what I did to stay sane in the 00s. This album grew out of my struggle to survive, recover and rebuild my life."
This is also the story of Blackmer’s musical life so far. Herein are songs written during his younger years, set among songs written in and about the 00s and songs representing the stages in between.
Many people know Eric through his work in ProAudio sales and marketing, as a studio builder, or as a recording and live sound engineer. He worked selling Pro Audio equipment for EU Wurlitzer, LaSalle Music, Daddy's Junky Music, Parsons Audio, and Guitar Center. He has been involved in studio building projects for WGBH, Tom Sholz, Joe Perry, Steve Tyler, Marly Marl, Luny Tunes, Daddy Yankee, Jim Cuttler, Bill Kaiser and Michael Moss. For 7 years he was director of Sales and Marketing for Earthworks Audio, a company started by his late father, David Blackmer of dbx fame. He is an expert on microphones, location recording, acoustic and celtic music. He is a born again Unitarian-Universalist. What more can you say! Music and sound are in his soul.

Eric Blackmer has produced another album that will be coming out very soon called "At the End of the Carpool Tunnel" It is a song writers’ album featuring the songs of Eric Blackmer, Lisa Murray and Charlie Metzler. The group is called Alight.
