ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Some press for "The Chill/Funk Trip"

"Eclectic, atmospheric, awesome...pick up your shovel and dig Made of Wood...."
- Christopher Levine, Magnetic Magazine (Jan 11, 2012)

"Think of a jazz club that landed on the moon. It’s spacey, dreamy, and, yes, funky. “Bluff,” is filled interestingly with funky bass lines sounds and a cool hip-hop/soul drumbeat, and the Radiohead-esque “Your Blown Future” shows how well he drew from his influences. “Are We Lost?” highlights his sound the best as it’s a perfect blend of lounge, soul, and funk with a intergalactic twist."
- Kyle Rich, Man of the Hour Magazine (Apr 13, 2012)

"It’s hard to pick a favorite song because each one has with it the ability to set a mood that just sinks into you. The strength of this album is its ability to make you feel through sound alone, and every song has a different emotion to inspire. Each song is incredibly dynamic, highlighting different ways to sync and synthesize sounds, varying tempos and melodies to keep your ear on the music and your mood in that chill groove that doesn’t break once the track starts."
- Marissa Fox, Gadfly (Feb 22, 2012)

"Completely instrumental (yum) and covering some of the best elements of funk, acid jazz, and even classical era-esque string sections, this album is pure bliss"
- dantelop, wefuckinglovemusic (Apr 03, 2012)

The Jackass-Penguin Show

One of those albums you'll have on repeat
I get to play some great music on my instrumental jazz-fusion podcast the Jackass-Penguin Show's Jazzy Selection, but the tracks by MadeOfWood on this album stand out in its effortless, seamless fusion. It's tastefully and sparingly multi layered. Repeat listening reveals new subtleties in sometimes deceptively simply grooves. It would appeal to a wide range of tastes whether you like jazz, film music or downtempo electronica.
