POWERSTORM is a Heavy/Power Metal band formed in Argos, southern Greece, in early 1995 by:
Kostas Falieros (guitars/vocals)
Akis Karatzas (drums. Replaced 2 years later by Christos Koutroufinis)
Christos Zachos (guitars)
Gregory Oikonomou (bass)
The band started playing gigs in September 1995 in local clubs and festivals and soon gained a strong reputation in Argolis. Soon after, they gave some shows in Korinthos, receiving far more than positive reactions and comments by the fans.
During the period of their live performances, the band had the honor to open or co-headline with famous Greek Metal bands like ROTTING CHRIST/SPITFIRE/EPIDEMIC (Gr) and EXTERMITY OBSESSION of the famous drummer George Kollias.
The band also recorded 2 demo CD’s: “The Coming” (1997) contained 5 songs in music and lyrics by Kostas Falieros (released in a very limited number of copies by the band) and the “Promo 2000” (2000) contained also five songs in music by Kostas and lyrics by Kostas and Christina Falieros. Both CD’s received extermely good critics by domestic and foreign Heavy Metal press.
POWERSTORM music is influenced by bands such as Iron Maiden/Queensryche/Savatage/Helloween/King Diamond/Y.J. Malmsteen /Spitfire/Metallica/Whitesnake/Crimson Glory but filtered through Kostas own perspective, giving the songs their own identity
In 2002, due to the fact that 2 of the members left the band for own personal reasons, POWERSTORM went to a long hybernation period. But in Kostas mind was always alive! So in April 2009 he decided to re-record some of the old songs and add some new, never recorded or performed live before. All recordings and programmings were made by Kostas in his own home studio and mixing/mastering procedure was made by Thanos Karapanos, known by his band WINTERS DAWN. All the artwork was made by Eleni Papadea
Finally, this is it! The first full length POWERSTORM album. 10 Heavy/Power Metal songs coming right from the heart! If these songs can "speak" to you even a little bit it was worth the effort! Every single minute of it!!!
Thank you very much and keep the metal alive in you!!!
