Album Notes

So Called Underground is a band that was built by it's own album "How To Paint A Silver Lining". Based on the musical influences, and songwriting of drummer Kenny Sharretts, the creation of "How To Paint A Silver Lining" was a song by song journey that eventually led to each member joining the project. As every members talents, and styles influenced the music, an organic energy began to drive the band members together. The kind of energy that allows free form jams involving 5 unique styles to quickly evolve into powerful songs for the heart, and mind. The band is composed of veteran Austin musicians Kenny Sharretts (Vox Box, Monte Montgomery), Bryan Jones (Podunk), Carson Alexander (Blu Edmondson), as well as seasoned Sacramento transplants Wesley James Steck, and keyboard master John Takanikos. Formed in the times between the many projects each musician has been involved with, So Called also draws influence from these projects. Kenny and Bryan tour as technicians for Stevie Wonder, and Kelly Clarkson, and Carson tours as the guitarist for Blu Edmondson. As drummer/singer Kenny Sharretts explained "Bryan and I have the honor of working with two incredible pop songwriters, so we can't help but let that influence our writing. Carson, who is an incredible blues guitarist, melds into Blu's alt country vein on tour, and then brings those influences to the table. In between tours with Stevie, I play in numerous Top 40 Bands with Wes,and John. Hence we are all constantly working with, or around great music. In addition, Wes is a successful jingle writer, and John is just crazy good. With that many influences in one room, you would think there would be clashes, but nope. Just good music."
