ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Vel Indica has just released their long awaited Debut Album . Check them out at www.velindica.com

What is Vel Indica? Just by name it sounds like some type of expensive red-haired marijuana from South America but it's not. Vel Indica is a magnificent band from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The band consists of Patrick Ferguson on vocals and guitar, Ken Simonds on bass and Karrie Sheehan on drums and percussion. The collaboration between this three-piece is an eclectic mix of indie-folk, alternative and post-punk.
While listening to Vel Indica, one may conjure up the spirit influences of several acts such as Joy Division, The Pixies, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel and Jeff Buckley to name a few. However, they also sound like none of these with their own distinct and original style. Their sound is mildly dark, but not so dark that you want to throw yourself in front of a train. It has just that subtle tinge of melancholy that makes the sound interesting and you long to understand it. They are not to be cloned by anyone nor do they clone the sound of anyone.
You must definitely see and hear them for yourself to fully experience their musical aesthetic. I would definitely rate them as one of North Carolina's top bands on the indie scene. I think they are going places so can you join them for the ride?
