My name is Yolanda R. As an artist, my aim is to honestly express myself through my vision of musical creativity, while hopefully providing an enjoyable experience for you, the listener.
I started out like many children - dancing around and singing at family get-togethers in my mom's living room. My mother always had the latest R&B albums and I would listen to these wonderful sounds while having fun with my relatives. My earliest memory of dancing and singing was around six. Throughout my entire childhood I cherished music and would sing to songs at the top of my lungs and choreograph modern dance steps while I jumped around in the privacy of the living
As a native New Yorker, this naturally led to me applying to the LaGuardia H.S. of Music & the Arts (featured in the movie "Fame"). As a Classical vocal major, the world of music opened up for me. Singing 'for real' since age 12, I have graced recordings, performances and choral groups with my Soprano. An ASCAP* member (Singer/Songwriter*) I've also performed at various open mics, karaoke bars, venues, organizations and schools throughout NYC and NJ.
As an artist and a lover of music I enjoy many genres of music. My main style is R&B but I am eager to sing other styles, as long as I can 'feel' the music. This has resulted in me collaborating on an Electronica song by Harmonik called "Nervana Remix" and a cover of the song "Life Is What You Make It" with Aka: man. You can find many other recordings and some free downloads at my website 'Yolanda's Voice'. To date, I have released a few singles, my debut CD "Yolanda's Voice" and this newest mini EP called "A Few Of My Thoughts..." I am loving this journey of singing and growing and expressing myself from my inner soul. I hope that you enjoy what I have to give just as much as I enjoy giving it. Peace and love to you.
