4Front

4Front is an instrumental progressive rock band that combines the classic sound of prog with many other stylistic elements to create cinematic soundscapes that will capture your imagination. Combining top-notch playing, intricate arrangements, odd time signatures, and symphonic themes, 4Front prides themselves on being accessible to the regular rock listener via a strong focus on songwriting, not ...just technical playing. Fans of Rush, Dream Theater, Kansas, Porcupine Tree, Symphony X, The Dixie Dregs, and Genesis will feel like they have known this band forever. But 4Front’s pallette of influences is much deeper, ranging from Billy Joel and Joe Jackson to film composers like John Williams and Randy Newman.

The core members of the band are Zak Rizvi (guitar, keyboards), Joe Bergamini (drums), and Frank LaPlaca (bass), with Rizvi doing most of the songwriting (although each album features several collectively-written songs). In a live concert setting, the group expands to anywhere from 4 to 6 members in order to duplicate the lush arrangements found on the recordings. 4Front has appeared in concert with Kansas, Marillion, and Saga.

4Front’s long-awaited third album, Malice in Wonderland, is set now available, with ten amazing new songs, and art design by the legendary Hugh Syme (who has designed every album and DVD cover for Rush). The connection to Rush in the band's music is strong, as they are a principal influence, but also personal, since Bergamini worked personally with Neil Peart on his Hudson Music DVD release, Taking Center Stage: A Lifetime of Live Performance. Bergamini is also well known as a drummer in the orchestra pits of Broadway, and as a member of the legendary progressive rock group Happy the Man. Keyboard player David Rosenthal (Billy Joel, Rainbow, Steve Vai), Joe's bandmate from Happy the Man, makes a guest appearance on Malice in Wonderland.

Zak Rizvi also has his own connections to rock royalty, working closely over the past decade with legendary Kansas producer Jeff Glixman and drummer Phil Ehart, producing up-and-coming artists, working as a recording engineer, and mixing and co-producing the latest Kansas Blu-Ray release, There’s Know Place Like Home.

Malice in Wonderland, along with 4Front’s critically acclaimed and popular earlier albums, Radio Waves Goodbye and Gravity, and Joe's solo album Arrival (also featuring Zak Rizvi and Frank LaPlaca) is available in physical and digital formats, and can be purchased at www.joebergamini.com, as well as through iTunes and other digital outlets.
