The idea for 7 MiLE STARE began in late 2009 with front man Chris Ricketson and drummer Rick Ruth. After playing around on the open mic scene as an acoustic duo, Ricketson and Ruth would officially form the band in February 2010 after adding friends Donnie Watson, Michael Cormier & Darren Crandall. Immediately, 7 MiLE STARE was generating a buzz on the music scene with Ricketson's powerful vocals and the bands high energy performance.
The STARE soon began to establish a following, which would come to be known as the 7 MiLE ARMY, and from here the future success of the band. In March, after only 2 months as a complete band, 7 MiLE STARE would quickly attract the attention of award winning producer Dennis Field of Denmark Productions who would enlist the band as part of the line up for the Halifax Plugged - In 9 compilation album. The album, featuring "Upside Down" and "OVERATED" was released Friday May 14th, 2010 and is set to be the launch pad of their career.
To date, "Upside Down" has gained radio play all across Canada as their success continues to grow as an Indie band. In only a few short months, 7MS accomplished more than they'd dreamed possible and they we're now recording artists. In May, the band marched the 7 MiLE ARMY to Chester Billards Battle of the Bands for a shot at RIVERFEST 2010. After a full day of music, including 15 bands, the STARE would be crowned the winners, also gaining them more recording time with Dennis Field!
After months of good fortune though, the STARE would loose member Donnie Watson over the summer. They continued playing as a four piece, rocking the east coast music scene with an intense furiosity, solidifying their sound: "The New Sound of the East Coast" Their their debut album "Organized Chaos" recorded with producer Dennis Field was released August 27th, 2010 and has received great reviews coast to coast. Now lets "Rock hard and lets build the ARMY!"
