“Live organic hip hop” is the genre that this seminal midwest hip hop group has helped create. Since their inception in 2001 they have established a strong midwest following and gained critical accolades by press and industry. They have played over 300 live shows and performed on TV and for radio stations. They have graced the stage with many well known acts
including: The Gza, The Rza, Lyrics Born, Mr. Lif, Buckwheat Zydeco, Jean Gray, DJ Z-Trip, POS, Blue Scholars, NASA, Glue, The Redwalls, Poi Dog Pondering, Eyedea, Andrew Bird, Bernie Worrell, and many more.
The latest release, “Abstract Giants” (self titled), is their most ambitious and accomplished to date. It spans a range of textures from head bobbing hip hop, to dancable club music, to introspective conscious music. The music is forged from a symphony of instruments including guitars, bass, drums, electric and acoustic violins, pianos, keyboards, pedal steel, banjos, harmonicas, turn tables, synths, and armies of vocals. Production, mixing, and engineering was an inhouse affair by vocalist Andres Roldan and guitarist/ vocalist Cary Kanno. This album is over two years in the making, and the band has logged hundreds of hours of blood, sweat, and tears to bring it to fruition. It is the band’s opinion that the album is well worth the wait.
Past Gigs: House of Blues, Metro, Double Door, Congress Theater, Art Fair in the Square (largest art fair in the midwest), Warped Tour, Taste of Chicago, and many more.
