About Me:
I am acidshell, an Electronic musician from Dublin in Ireland. I do what I do because I love writing music, expanding my experience, knowledge, inventing new techniques, styles, and playing musical instruments, along with listening to other similar minded musicians across an eclectic range of musical styles from Acid to Zydeco. I also am a technology junky with a strong IT background from a young age.

Having performed in such venues in Ireland such as the famous Temple Bar Music Centre (now known as The Button Factory) on a number of occasions, resident at The Shed, and other clubs in Dublin, I am currently living in Shenzhen in China, to play some live music sets and maybe some DJ’ing too.

My Story:
I grew up in the 1980′s listening to Hard Rock, and Metal along with some Alternative bands at the time, always seeking new underground forms of music which eventually lead to the discovery of House, Techno, Jungle and Breakbeat styles, and other derivative styles of Electronic music.

In 1997, after many years of listening I decided to try writing some musics myself using some cheap sequencing packages. However with a strong IT background and no solid musical background at the time I decided to pursue DJ’ng ahead of composing whih I did spare time. DJ’ing with effects units and trying to expand what could be done with DJ’ing I decided to study Advanced Sound Engineering, at Pulse Recording Studios in Dublin, where I also followed on with two ProTools courses.

At the time the market was flooded with software systems for making music. The big 3 were:

FL Studio which was the all round package packed with features and the only one with VST functionality.
Reason which was a new looping multitrack with predesigned 19″ racks which could be controlled by MIDI
Ableton which had some cool looping functionality like Reason but didnt have MIDI yet.

After writing hundreds of half decent unfinished tracks I decided to work with some people online to build on my musical ability and to hear some different opinions, creating a DJ’ing website and writing with some really talentted musicians.

I made the full switch to using Ableton Live as my main Audio software which now had MIDI, and also studied Bass Guitar, then Electric Guitar.
After a number of years since removing my web presence and focusing solely on music, I decided to relaunch my website.
