HIS SONGS ARE POETRY
Since 2004 ALAN has worked in the genres of folk-rock, blues, folk singer-songwriter, jazz, grunge, acoustic rock, and soul, publishing more than 20 albums in a span of 12 years. His influences range from Bob Dylan and troubadour lyricism, to Mississippi John Hurt and folk-blues, to Neil Young and head-banging acoustic rock, to Donovan and hermetic minstrel-ism; ALAN's music is distinctively his own, sometimes with a 6/8 rhythm, sometimes with a dream, recorded independently unlike his predecessors, which helps fuel the expression of Californian authorship. ALAN is a scholar and a teacher, as well.
His most recent MUSICAL COLLECTION release includes song-by-song remasters of 332 original songs, published in 2016, coinciding with a one-of-a-kind 660-page lyric songbook, MUSICAL SHADOWS, recording the feelings and tastes of a young man growing up in southern California at the dawn of the Information Age.
ALAN has published a 310-page book of poetry, NEW CENTURY POEMS. He is also the director of a travel documentary, Journey to Colorado 1-7.
ALAN lives in San Diego and is currently working on new music, writing, and research projects.
