Alliance

Biography

Currently creating an expanding global buzz about the resurrection of intellectual, progressive, power/thrash metal, Alliance is stirring up the western United States as well. Capitalizing on some of the key integral components used by some of the greatest song writers of all time, the band fuses some of the most sought after sounds…on modern ground. From shredding harmony guitar solos to intimidating powerful melodic vocals to intense, hi-speed, head-banging drums, Alliance is sure to own property in your cranium to store their complete first album "Stand in my Way"…and the many albums to follow.

In 2004, front man and guitarist, Joey Polidori, split from his band “Militia” (a rare 80’s sounding thrash/metal band based out of Phoenix, AZ) as a result of the band wanting a new singer. Unhappy with just being a guitarist for the band he founded, Militia dissolved. Learning from the experience, he took a handful of vocal lessons from Robert Mason (front man of 80‘s throwback cover band “Metalhead”) and developed his own vocal style. Not looking forward to the tedious task that is auditioning musicians, he started recording a few original songs solely intended to attract the talent he needed. He finished three songs and posted them to his website. The songs started to generate positive praise immediately.

While the songs became widely accepted in the metal community, they still managed to escaped the attention of future drummer Brian Regalado. “Militia” and Brian’s band “Sectas” had previously played a few shows together, so Joey was fully aware of Brian’s skill. Brian, unwilling to give local musicians a listen due to the dying and unimpressive metal scene, allowed the music to go unheard for a number of years. Then one day in early July of 2008, after Joey posted a revised version of “Stand in my Way” on his site, Brian finally submitted and tuned in after repeated attempts by Joey to get him to listen. Enthralled with the performance on the track, Joey had Brian’s full attention. However, tied and loyal to his band, Brian let another year go by before the two of them connected.

Eventually, the first practice came to be in early 2009. By this time, Joey’s three songs demo became the 8 song album “Stand in my Way”. After blowing the walls down in Brian’s studio apartment, they moved to a practice studio. A couple months went by before Brian invited guitar shredder David Gillies to a practice. David had filled in for Sectas a few times during some Megadeth covers that the band played. Brian had mentioned to David the idea of jamming with him and Joey during the months leading up to the maiden rehearsal and he was already interested. Up to the challenge, David took to the material quickly and began learning the songs fast. Shredding every bit as fast as Joey, if not faster, David then adopted the role of “lead guitar”. Joey was pleased to see the songs living up to their purpose.

As the boys continue to condition themselves to tour the release of the new album, the search for a bassist continues, but the newly formed Alliance pushes forward. Their release of “Stand in my Way” has positioned them nicely to be the first big act out of Phoenix, AZ in a long time.
