A little background:
In 1996 Amy Denio began collaborating with choreographer David Dorfman, creating a soundscore for his dance piece 'Sky Down.' She'd record things in her studio in Seattle, and leave him messages on his answering machine playing the music back, which then he'd critique, and so forth. Eventually, she was awarded a NYC Bessie Award for the soundtrack.
In 1998, David Dorfman approached Amy to compose a full-length dance piece, which was eventually entitled 'To Lie Tenderly'. Amy put together a band with diverse, talented musicians, and together they performed her compositions live on stage, at performances all over the country - at Duke University, University of New Mexico in Tuscon Arizona, and finally at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave 2000 Festival.
They recorded the soundtrack in New York City, and Amy has produced the work on her label, Spoot Music.
