Andrea Fascetti is an Italian 7-string bassist and composer.
He started playing when he was eight but seriously at the late age of seventeen. He came from a musical family and was influenced early on by his grandfather, who was a musician too. In the early 90's he moved to Milan and studied at Cpm school. After spending some years in Milan he started his professional career as a sideman.He performed mainly in clubs and jazz festivals with Ernie Wilkins, Gianni Basso, Curtis Fuller, Massimo Manzi, Riccardo Arrighini, Riccardo Fioravanti, Riccardo Fassi, Mauro Grossi, Andrea Melani and Walter Paoli to name a few. In the next few years he studied double bass at La Spezia Conservatory with Gian Pietro Zampella. His story changed when he met the great jazz teacher Charlie Banacos (Mike Stern, Jeff Berlin, Jimmy Earl), who changed his musical life and gave him a whole new world of ideas. During the last few years he has played in hundreds of studio productions. In 2001 he began producing and has worked as a composer for italian pop star Alexia. Unfortunately in 2002 he damaged his right hand and stopped playing double bass.
In 2008 he released his critically acclaimed, debut album entitled, "Dedicated to Steve" with Philology Records, dedicated to great bassist Steve Swallow. During last two years ha played in important jazz festivals with his band.
In 2011 will be out his new album with italian famous drummer Massimo Manzi.
