Singer-Songwriter Andy Allo and her band have been making music together close to a year now. Though it hasn't been long, their chemistry, creativity and passion makes this group unique.
Sometimes backed up by her band, Allo can hold her own with just a guitar and microphone. Something that separates her from the rest is that Allo was born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa.
Allo is influenced by the soul and style of artists such as Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, OutKast, Jill Scott, Floetry, and India.Arie.
They have performed at Harlow's in Sacramento, The Independent in San Francisco, and Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles. And with a growing following, will be performing at this year's California State Fair! She has been a featured artist on 103.5 The Bombs '80 West Radio Show' and her music can be heard there every week.
If you were to categorize her music, it would require a new genre: Alter.Hip.Soul: A mix of alternative, hip-hop, and soul.
Andy Allo recently finished recording her debut album, titled UnFresh, at Paradise Studios in Sacramento, CA. The record is being released independently September 22nd 2009.
