Take a map of the USA, stick a hatpin through the center, and you’ll find Kansas City. Best known for jazz, blues, BBQ, and a famous old song that bears its name, it’s also the birthplace of a fresh approach to jazz pop music.
Spearheading the movement is Andy DeWitt, whose upbeat, uplifting original songs have been known to local audiences for two decades, but have gained international attention with the release of three new CD’s in the span of just three years.
Andy’s latest release, “Made In Jamerica” (available October 22, 2011), is a blast of caffeine, which features ten new songs full of energy and soul. The songs were written by Andy in Jamaica and completed in his Kansas City studio, hence the disc’s title. Influences of Soca, Reggae, and House Dance music abound, but to borrow from an old adage, “You can take the boy out of Kansas City, but you can’t take Kansas City out of the boy.”
