I began studying the flute at the age of seven, and from the moment I played my first note, I knew this enchanting instrument would be a part of my life forever. After high school, I was off to Paris to study with the world-renown Alain Marion. After my stay in Paris, I returned to the United States and attended the New England Conservatory of Music where I studied with another amazing flutist and teacher, James Pappoutsakis. My time at NEC was cut short when I returned home for summer vacation and won an audition for the principal flute job with the Oakland Symphony. Playing principal flute with the OSO was a marvelous experience that allowed me to work with fabulous colleagues and world-class conductors and soloists. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with the San Francisco Opera, several of the Bay Area’s top chamber ensembles, and I’ve performed on numerous recordings for film and television. I currently stay busy working with the next generation of musicians as Instructor of Flute Performance and Director of the Performance Collective at Mills College.
