Biography

BIO Anita Jarrell-Robertson

In the last several years, authentic music minister Anita Jarrell-Robertson has overcome heart-wrenching challenges by praising God through song. Anita is quickly becoming an in-demand worship leader, songwriter, and speaker across the United States and beyond.

Since the 2005 release of her first independent effort, “This Is My Story”, Anita has expanded her ministry by sharing stages with gospel icons like LaShun Pace and Carolyn Traylor. Christopher “Play” Martin was headliner to a Holy Hip Hop Concert where Anita was asked to open, which resulted in audience members of all ages lying prostrate before God in front of the stage. The calling to “entertrain” (train people to enter the presence of God) began when she was 4 years old singing full solos during Sunday church services.

Anita was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up singing the Gospel at churches, schools, and even had television appearances. Since an early age, she has chosen to sing, teach, and preach the word of God.

Although Anita was raised in the church, she did not believe in Christ as her personal Lord and Savior until her early twenties. The transformation she experienced catapulted her into a new era of singing gospel professionally and was instrumental in emblazing a desire in her to see others experience the soul salvaging power in the presence of an almighty yet all loving God. After a few years of researching the music business and singing for various churches in her local community, Kingdom Seekers Records, Anita’s independent label, was born- January 2004.

Initially, Anita focused on urban contemporary gospel with hints of worship on the style of Mary Mary. Although she enjoys this style immensely, she always tends to end up in prophetic worship by the end of her performance. When Xross, a gospel rapper who has videos on BET Gospel, asked Anita to lead worship for thirty minutes as the opener for Christopher “Play” Martin to speak to a youth group of 5000, she was shocked, but humbly accepted. That day as she watched the crowd receive breakthrough after breakthrough during her worship, the course of Anita’s career changed. She remembered that her calling was to “entertrain” and the rest is history.

With a renewed vision for worship, Anita returned to her home base of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and married her best friend, Min. Jesse Robertson, Jr. in August of 2005. As a concert promoter and owner of a gospel record label, Min. Robertson was a perfect fit for Anita. The two merged records companies and completed her first tour in September 2005. Unexpectedly, tragedy struck their marriage as their first daughter was born prematurely then diagnosed with Leukemia Cancer at the age of one month. Although neither of them knew what to do with music or ministry or much else during that trying time, they both knew who to call on.

Through praise and worship, Jesse and Anita gained strength for the journey. God healed their daughter miraculously and Anita went on to donate her gift of song to Children’s Hospital of Dallas annually in gratitude for the care given to their cancer survivor.

Anita’s music from her premier “This Is My Story” album earned her radio play in several states including California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois, and beyond to the UK. Track #3, “Bless You Father” Track #7, "Lowly Jesus" was voted number one traditional gospel song in the 2006 Gospel Music Writer Awards.

Currently, Anita is independent, but open to a recording contract with a major record company. She has been heard lately at Abundantly Blessed Ministries (Desoto, TX), Faith Praise & Deliverance Temple (Garland, TX), and Praise In The Park Concert with over 300 in attendance (Dallas, TX). Her upcoming events include the African American Museum in Fair Park (Dallas, TX), Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, and a host of churches in ATL and Louisiana.

Of her burning passion for “entertraining”, Anita says, “My highest ambition is to worship in such an honest way that anyone can join me and see God.”
