Ari Neufeld

Biography

Ari Neufeld is no stranger to spontaneous musical creation. I am a developing a one man band style that is a bit of an intense odyssey to marvel at as it unravels. Typically there is a lot of laughter throughout my exploratory melodic vocal range, sprinkled with beat-boxing and brow beating. I keep time with my feet on an amplified wooden box I found in my grandfather's tool shed, with bells and gourds attached to my legs to augment the beats. My guitar playing scribbles all over the genre map throughout folk and blues and hip hop and often into uncharted acoustic territory. My career is only beginning. But I’ve been playing my whole life so there is definitive journey in my performance, usually juxtaposed by story-telling. From being raised by missionaries, to love and loss, life as a skyscraper window washer, bartender, world-traveler, tradesman, inventor, professional artist, lover, father, world traveler, guaranteed you will be hearing this type of style for the first time. BC Music’s Male Performer of the Year 2008.

My most produced work to date!! Recorded namely in Paul Reimer's Living Room, with the time and patience of friends like Sara Ciantar, Craig McMechan, Jon Anderson, my bro Chris and of course the cello magnificence of Richard St Onge.

A Pretty Good Logging Road (Planet Of The) Tapes, Vol III

This album was composed in less than a week in preparation for a lightning tour of Ireland with my brother Chris. He and his twin, Sean were in between tree-planting jobs and I convinced Chris to join me. There is a rare, disarming magic to the spirit!!

Old Man Songs By A Boy (for A Girl) The Duct Tapes, Vol I
2002
My music bridges the gaps between age and style. It's melodic and rhythmic. It's full contact canadian folk and alternative pop played through acoustic instruments, and sung out of extremely deep experiences.
