BIOGRAPHY
Original contemporary folk-pop; introspective and autobiographical lyrics, interlaced with magical harmonies and excellent musicianship. Ariella Uliano writes in English and Italian. Her albums are connected by theme or imagery and inspired by the works of Byron, Yeats, Shakespeare, Dante Alighieri, the French chansonniers, the Italian cantautori and the English and Irish traditional ballad singers.
She defies genre but her melodies and arrangements are strongly influenced by Renaissance and Baroque music and dance, with elements of country, rag-time, jazz and slow rock. Not often performing in England, Ariella spends most of her time researching, recording and teaching abroad.
Ariella Uliano's repertoire includes famous dance tunes like Mr. Beveridge's Maggot (as featured in Jane Austen's screen adaptations) and a 'Celtic' version of Franz Schubert's Ave Maria. She has recorded beautiful versions of traditional songs such as 'The Three Ravens', 'Mary Hamilton' and 'She's Like The Swallow'.
The settings are modern, unusual and inspired.
Ariella's latest album 'A.U. (almost ) a Compilation' is a collection of her best loved songs newly arranged for this 'limited edition' album and some original ballads in Italian.
Ariella also performs period dances and speaks on music, dance and literature at various educational events.
Ariella Uliano has released 5 albums and 4 singles. Watch Ariella's music videos on Ariella's website or on YouTube at MusicariE's page and hear her music for free.
