Armory

Armory is a melodic power/prog/heavy metal band from Townsend, Massachusetts USA and formed in mid-2001 by high school classmates, Chad Fisher and Joe Kurland. Heavily influenced by Euro-style power/speed metal and 80’s traditional heavy metal the likes of Iron Maiden and Helloween, the co-founders set out to create metal music that was high-energy and melody-driven with soaring vocals, finger-picked bass, a twin-guitar attack, and an epic atmosphere. Ever self-critical of their composing and performing, it took several years of constant rewriting and rerecording before Armory considered their debut album complete. During this time the band acquired the rest of its talent, with all but one member having attended the same high school. Entitled The Dawn of Enlightenment, the debut album consisted of ten originals and two cover tracks. Overall, the album featured over one hour of passionately crafted melodic power metal. The Dawn of Enlightenment was released on Dec. 28, 2007 to overwhelmingly positive reviews from the metal community worldwide. Upon its release, the six-piece took to the stage to spread their music to the masses.

In the years following, Armory worked tirelessly perfecting the material for their second album, Empyrean Realms. By intensely analyzing song structure, chord progressions, and meaningful melodies, the band leveled up their arsenal of song writing ability. Empyrean Realms contains nine original songs showcasing the band’s maturation in composing, musicianship, and production. There are no wasted notes to be found. Each song displays a style and sound that is uniquely its own, yet integrates seamlessly within the larger context of the album. Compared to their critically acclaimed debut album, the sophomore record has more dynamic composing and arranging, with more colorful melodies, articulate guitar work, flavorful key changes, technical drumming, and progressive elements. Empyrean Realms was released on Nov. 12, 2013 through Joe Kurland’s label, Metavania Music. At this same time the band unveiled a totally revamped official website. Currently, Empyrean Realms is being promoted worldwide while Armory prepares for shows supporting the album.

Throughout their entire history, Armory has been the epitome of a self-made, self-reliant music band. The composing and arranging for all of Armory’s music has been done by founding members and co-guitarists, Chad and Joe. Armory’s lyrics, which are mostly written by Adam, incorporate themes of metaphysics, cosmology, fantasy, and epic stories, and are often written with a thought-provoking and inspirational tone. Both The Dawn of Enlightenment and Empyrean Realms albums were engineered, mixed, mastered, and produced by the band themselves in their own recording studios. In a time when many melodic power/prog/heavy metal bands have become lazy or hasty in their song writing simply to pile on another record, Armory puts in the effort to sculpt masterpieces. Technically, Armory does not attempt to boast their skills with meaningless noodling, instead preferring to perform with emotional dexterity while serving the mission of the song. With an unwavering vision and uncompromising resolve toward composing, recording, and production perfection, Armory sets the standard for integrity and sets themselves apart in the genre.
