Crafting a distinctive style from his musical heritage, Arty del Rio's sounds were expressed in the bands Botswana and the Sound Particles. Their gigs were driven by their 60's influenced power pop sounds. The rhythm produced a momentum akin to a runaway train, that veered into straight no fuss memorable infectious melodious guitar pop. They would at times be dampened by bossa nova grooves, and Peruvian ancestry rhythms to produce an unorthodox but welcoming hybrid. The results end up mellowing into sweet cool jazz styled speed breakers that make you wanna just relax and listen.
Arty del Rio was born in Lima, Peru. He migrated to Melbourne Australia at a young age with not much more than his family and his parents albums.
He learnt by listening mostly to 50's and 60's pop but later was intoxicated by latin, jazz, blues and modern guitar pop.
Arty del Rio has released an EP (2004) and demos which reached No.1 on mp3.com.au in 2006.
He is currently recording an album, of which Muchacho is the first single.
Muchacho has a distinct guitar pop sound, whilst Bargained Soul is an attempt to fuse Jazz and blues with pop.
Angel Mermaid originally featured elec guitar, and lyrics, which combined rock pop and peruvian style waltz. For the Muchacho single, it was stripped down to a Peruvian inspired style, and now sits as a mellow interlude between the upbeat songs.
