In lieu of the standard 3rd person bio I’ve decided to pull back the veil and show you who’s behind it. So this is me; I’m Ashley Gatta.
A few years ago God showed me how ridiculous I was being and saved me by grace through faith. It didn’t give me magical powers but it melted my heart of stone. I now live in seasons of repentance from my pride and idolatry and celebration of the joy that comes with freedom in Christ. The songs I write are usually a snapshot of this epic story.
Additionally, He made me fall in love with “the least of these” and I want justice to prevail for the “widow and the orphan”. I hope to encourage believers to examine their hearts towards God and His people through the songs I write.
The sound of my music, encouraged by my band “Ashley Gatta & The Free People” is Organic Motown and can be described as a cross between Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin. Lyrically, I may step on some toes, and sometimes end up putting my foot in my mouth (lots of foot analogies here) but I do my best to be transparent and kingdom-minded with what I have to say.
My projects include the 2007 EP, Forget Subtlety, featuring TexasCSA’s 2009 Song of the Year, Ain’t Nobody. In the spring of this year, I'm releasing my first full length album, Where the Humble Go.
