The year was 2003. It was at Adelante High School in Roseville, California, where Marcos Silva and Tyler Edwards met for the first time. Tyler had recently left the Hardcore band Broke Free, when he and Marcos talked about putting together a metal band. A year later they began writing music in Marcos’ garage.
Their first show was at The Gas Light Theater in Campbell, California on February 4th, 2005. The first line up ATA performed with consisted of Tyler Edwards on lead vocals, Marcos Silva on rhythm guitar, Jon Hamby on lead guitar, Ross Hewitt on bass, Ben Gunnerson on drums for half the set, and Dave Ortiz (now in All In A Day) for the other half.
In the spirit of Spinal Tap, an epic game of musical chairs ensued with the members of ATA, the years to follow. Two bassists, three lead guitarists, and five drummers later, the band finally has the strongest and most brutal line up to date. The current 2011 line up is Tyler Edwards on lead vocals, Marcos Silva on rhythm guitar, Jon Loane on lead Guitar, Benjamin Modlin on bass, and Dan Capps on drums.
ATA has graced stages all around Northern California, Oregon, and Nevada. In 2006 they were the first aggressive metal band to perform at The Hard Rock Café in Sacramento, for Your Music Magazine and 98Rock Local Licks’ “Rock Wars”. In May of 2008 ATA went into the studio, and on January 2, 2009 they released their first album. It is titled “Tribulation”, and was recorded and engineered by Bob Swanson at MayhemeNess Studios. In June of 2009, a music video was shot for the song “I Will Beat You To Death To Prove My Love To You”. September of 2010, the boys went back to MayhemeNess and prepared to record a full-length album. The Album, “At War With The Dead”, will be released in April of 2011.
