Backyard Superheroes

Backyard Superheroes is a ska punk band out of central NJ. They are an energetic mix of ska with some old school punk roots. The band consists of Josh on lead guitar and vocals, Matt on rhythm guitar, Greg on bass, Ryan on drums, Gary on Sax, Brian on Trombone and Bruce on trumpet. They are known locally for their high-energy sound as well as stage antics, including the famous 'skanga lines' led by their saxophone player at most shows.

They released their debut album, a 6 song EP titled "Falling With Style" in September of 2012, only 4 months after their first show. Their second album, released May 24, 2014 at their locally-famous 'Backyard Campout,' is a 14 song, self-titled album recorded at Powerflux Production studios and mastered at Moathouse Recording Studios by none other than Roger of Less Than Jake. In June 2014 they set out on their first tour to promote their full length album, spanning 12 days along the east coast as well as a few states on the way down.

In June 2015 they released their latest album, "Let's Get Dangerous" featuring 7 tracks with guest vocals. This was recorded at Weilhouse Productions, a studio run by their drummer Ryan Weil. They followed up this release with a 10-day tour through Chicago and back. The band used footage from tour to put together a music video showing some of the live set from different states.

Backyard Superheroes has played with many of the top players in the ska-punk scene such as Mad Caddies, Mustard Plug, Big D and the Kids Table, Less Than Jake, the Pietasters, Inspecter 7, Hub City Stompers, Mephiskapheles, the Slackers and the Specials. They have also played at large festivals such as Skate and Surf three years in a row alongside bands including Fall Out Boy, Streetlight Manifesto, New Found Glory, Alkaline Trio and Midtown.
