Biography

Bells of the Sound is a nationally acclaimed handbell ensemble pioneering handbell artistry and excellence since 1989. This talented group of 15 auditioned musicians is known for their high-caliber, energetic and entertaining performances. Bells of the Sound is a dynamic force in the handbell world, advancing handbells into the mainstream of entertainment and encouraging composers to create new works for this provocative, exhilarating instrument. Their concerts draw you in, one piece at a time, bringing a whole new perspective on handbells that you won’t want to miss!

Established to give handbell directors in the Puget Sound area an opportunity to ring, Bells of the Sound has matured into a community ensemble dedicated to musical excellence and the promotion of handbells through exciting performance. The group now performs on 7+ octaves of Malmark handbells and 5 octaves of Malmark Choirchimes – one of the largest handbell collections in the United States. Bells of the Sound has appeared on the Q13 Morning News Christmas Special, MIX 92.5's Christmas Show and KING 98.1's "Evenings with Gigi Yellen". Past performances include the Opening Gala at Benaroya Hall and shows with the Seattle Men’s Chorus, the Cascade Symphony, the Rainier Chorale and Mateo Messina's "Symphony of the Superhero".
