Ben van Dijk
was born in 1955 in The Hague, Netherlands
After 23 years with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (Hilversum), Ben 15 years ago joined the Rotterdam Philharmonisch as solo bass trombonist.
Ben is a Professor at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music .
He frequently has been teacher and soloist at the yearly held International Trombone Festival and has given master classes and recitals in many countries around the world.
Ben’s method for bass and tenor trombone with F attachment, “Ben’s Basics” (released July 2004), received high recognition.
In recognition of his contributions to the ITA and the trombone community at large, Ben was the recipient of the 2003 ITA Award. This award is the ITA's most prestigious citation and it recognizes Ben's artistic achievements and his tireless efforts in promoting and improving global trombone performance standards, brass pedagogy, and instrument design.
He has released five solo CD's, “Nana”, "First Song", “Melody”, "Never Alone" and "World Concerto".
Ben plays exclusively Max & Heinrich Thein trombones.
