After garnering critical praise and national buzz from their last album, "I'll Never Sleep Again", Birds & Batteries have just released a new EP, "Up To No Good." Hailed by critics and fans, the EP is steadily gaining ground in the CMJ top 100 and placement on blogger's best of 09 lists. The EP is heavily influenced by Bowie's "Scary Monsters," John Carpenter films, and of course, P-funk and best described as a "spooky funky adventure." This intriguing new material also provides for dance-inducing climactic moments in the live set.
Over the past two years, B&B has solidified their lineup with Mike Sempert on keys and guitar, Christopher Walsh on guitar, Jill Heinke on bass and synth, and Brian Michelson on drums. These days, everyone is singing. Through persistent touring with this core group, B&B's live show has grown stronger, tighter, and more crowd-pleasing than ever. Their next full-length album, "Panorama" is intended for release in summer 2010.
