Bishop Ray Jackson was born on May 2, 1947 to the wonderful parents, Douglas Jackson and the late Pastor Florece Jackson. then on that special day, God held this Shining Star (Ray) in His hand and watched him Grow, Twinkle and Shine with the special gifts and talents God bestowed upon him. Ray has three brothers, Harold (Teen) deceased, Billy and Ronnie. They are all very special and dear to him. Ray resides in Danville, Virginia. Ray confessed his life to Christ at an early age. He was raised under the leadership of his grandmother Bishop Jessie Reed (deceased), his father Douglas Jackson and his mother Pastor Florece Jackson (deceased).
In 1977 Ray received a miracle when the doctors had done all they could, God save his life and healed him from a life threatening bronchial condition. While Ray distinguished himself and attained great accomplishments, it is noteworthy to mention some of his God given talents and gifts such as Promoter, Booking Agent, Solo Artist, Composer, Keyboard Player, Producer and Recording Artist. Before retirement he served his community as an Anger Management and Substance Abuse Counselor, worked with the Danville Police Department and as a Karate Instructor for the youth and young adults. God has also blessed Ray with his own Recording Studio. Ray has recorded over 75 or more CD's himself as well as other artist. Also, Ray has a Radio Broadcast on WDVA 1250 am in Danville,Va. every first and third Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In an effort to reach the sick and shut -in with his many Gospel Singing Recordings, he plays their favorite song by having them call into the radio station with their request. Also , a Radio Broadcast in Yanceyville, North Carolina every second and fourth Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on WMC am.
Ray has traveled near and far for over four decades and played for many Local Choirs, Gospel Groups and Solo Artist. His favorite female Solo Artist are Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight. His favorite singing group is Robert Blair and The Fantastic Violinaires of Detroit, Michigan. Ray has also played along with National Recording Artist such as the Truthettes of Oklahoma City, Clarence Fountain an The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Bill Moss and the Celestial Singers of Detroit, Michigan, and the Four Time Winner of the Apollo Theater '' Matt and ReeRee '' of Burlington , North Carolina. Ray has appeared with Rev. Demond (Lamont) Wilson of Sanford and Son Sitcom Show. He has won the first time ever Gospel Living Legendary Award and shared the stage with Pastor Shirley Caesar and others. A short time later, Ray received another Gospel Award in North Carolina along with Gospel Artist Luther Barnes and other appearances with other Artist to numerous to mention at this time .
In 2007, Ray wrote and produced a play entitled " The Truth About Some Church Folks ". The play opened April 7, at the North Theater in Danville, Va. It was such a success that they had to turn away three hundred people. At present, God has elevated Ray from a Nationally known Gospel Singer and Keyboard Player to an Anointed Bishop and Pastor of Temple of Christ Fellowship Church of a Second Chance located at 528 Loyal St. Danville, Va. 24541.
