Blaine Duncan & the Lookers

Biography

"In the end, you won't want to take this one out of your CD player until you wear it out." - Livin': Music and Television Reviews

If you have not heard the premier up-and-coming Southeast band Blaine Duncan & the Lookers, then it is time to make their acquaintance. The band members hail from both the cities of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham in Alabama, and seem to have a soft spot for rowdy, yet thought-provoking, songs with beautiful melodies. A lot of the attention that they garner is also from their live, energetic shows as well as their rock-country tunes.

They are a band full of honest, raw songs about topics that do not come off as frivolous or half-baked.

In their work and their shows, one can hear what a recent review calls a mix of "undeniable wit with an undercurrent of weariness." Blaine Duncan & the Lookers always score with their songs of heartbreak and wonder. Their recently released album has certainly created quite a buzz amongst critics, with one referring to the songwriting as "superb," and the songs as "thought-provoking without tripping over [themselves] trying to be too complex."

If nothing else is clear, it is this: they do not fit squarely within the genre of simple, Southern rock. In fact, somehow they move far from that genre, while holding on to the best of Southern rock at the same time.
