Authentic, unapologetic, badass - producer, songwriter, and educator, Blue (Azul), began creating at age 6, playing various instruments in jazz bands, ensembles, and orchestras at A.M. Jackson Elementary (E. St. Louis, IL), Woodruff High School (Peoria, IL), and Saint Louis University (St. Louis, MO/ Madrid, Spain) where she studied music composition and production. At age 20, while performing and attending college in Madrid, she gained an appreciation for Spanish, Kenyan, and Portuguese folk music. Upon returning to the States, Blue continued developing as a writer, singer, producer, and musician, working alongside KD Brosia, Case, Nodzilla, Floyd Boykin Jr., The Last Poets, and Charlie King among others. In February 2010, Blue released her first single “Stay in the Car”, produced by her indie label, BattleCry of the ButterFly (BOB) Productions. The EP “New Growth: The Prelude” was released that summer, followed by the LP Nappy Kitchen (2011), ingenious by BLUE (2012), Famous Negro Athletes, featuring various artists (2012), Ancient Lapis, featuring various artists (2013), and Breakage: A Hitchhiker's Guide to Babylon, The Musical (2013). BOB has produced/ co-produced for over 30 artists in music and film earning Blue a role in independent film "The Bus" and such accolades as "Artist in Action" by A Child of Karma (2011) and "Best Sound Design 48hr Film Project" for Best of Portland (2012).
In July 2012, after receiving her doctorate from Saint Louis University, Blue and business partner Molly Ross founded Discovering a Voice to introduce the songwriting process to people in communities throughout St. Louis, MO, Portland, OR, and California's Bay Area.
