Biography

Bob Semanchik has been a performing musician since the age of 15. He gigged his way through music school (Western Ct. State College) where he studied Classical Guitar with the late Alexander Bellow and ended up in the popular New Haven, CT, band “The Crayons” in the early 1980’s. The Crayons were one of CT’s most popular bands, playing a mix of originals and covers of the time.

He was influenced as a young player by The Beatles, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Peter Frampton. and a host of others. More recent additions to his list include Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel, Django Reinhart and Kenny Burrell.
Bob has also been the 1st chair guitar and bass instructor at the University of New Haven for 18 years and has two CD's to his credit.
The 2008 release "Standard Interpretations" which featured classic standards done in a more pop style and 3 original instrumentals. One of the songs "I'm Gonna make You Love Me" has been featured on the Weather Channels play list a couple times over the past couple years.
His newest CD features 16 brand new original vocal pop/rock tunes. Hence the title "!6 Stories" Listeners have compared the sounds to the Beatles, Sting, Tom Petty, Toto, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney's solo work. Bob continues to perform and teach guitar, bass and piano in the fine state of Connecticut and is proud to say he is and always has been able to support himself as a full time musician.
