In this generation, artists are striving to come up with a quick hit record or jump on the bandwagon of the next hottest trend. So how can an emerging Hip-Hop/R&B artist break ground? By using her creative and musical gifts, songstress Bonita has stepped into the game slinging a sledgehammer-- and she's doing so on some uncharted territory. This “sweet” but “street” Brooklyn native is putting the heart and soul back into Hip-Hop; producing original songs that feature classic beats and thought- provoking lyrics. With a distinct sound, this seasoned artist is making a name for herself as the most versatile female R&B/Hip-Hop artist that the industry has seen to date. She proves this on her first single, “Outta this World” featuring Mickey Factz, and will continue to prove she deserves a position in the music industry when she releases her first EP.
Bonita has been a staple in the music scene since 2005, working with some of the most influential figures in the recording industry. She has lent her voice to hooks for JR Writer, Cam’ron, Hell Rell and 40cal, and teaming up with affiliates of “Big Draws” Entertainment, Platinum Producer “9th.Wonder” and Dipset Aficionado “DukedaGod”. She has performed with the likes of Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Monica, Lyfe Jennings, Fantasia, Dipset, 3 Six Mafia, Biz Markie, Mickey Factz, Juelz Santana, Ghostface, Little Brother, Bubba Sparks, Lil Mo, Dondria,‘P Boy Stone, Truth Hurts, Crunchy Black, David Banner and international artist D’Banj.
Although her girl-next-door attitude has attracted success, this artist remains true to the streets. “I represent the young girls and women of the hood, I tell the story of what I’ve seen and what my family went through in the streets of East New York, and I’m the reporter for females across the world”. Never compromising her integrity to the game, Bonita captivates listeners with her melodious flows.
In 2009, Bonita went on a three month "How Sweet the Sound" gospel tour with Verizon Wireless. On tour she worked with Gospel greats such as Donald Lawrence, Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker, Trinity 5:7, Kiki Sheard and Dorinda Clark Cole.
She recently moved to Atlanta, GA to receive mentoring from innovative producers including Alex “Godson” Richbourg. Godson, credited for Track Masters and collaborating with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to jump start the careers of greats such as, Janet Jackson, Usher and Fantasia; has worked closely with Bonita to help develop her as an artist and writer.
In 2011, Bonita caught the eyes and ears of promoters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was flown there to open for Nigerian rapper, D’Banj. She now has a Malaysia and Nigerian following overseas that eagerly await the release of her debut album.
With all her success and a promising future ahead of her, Bonita applies her personal philosophy to her everyday life. “I have a strong belief in God which my mother instilled in me. My principles are not based on money and material possessions, although you need these things, you must always keep your priorities in order”. This R&B/Hip-Hop songbird is prepared and groomed to make her presence felt nationally, and with your support, Bonita will soon be able to say "mission accomplished!"
