BIOGRAPHY
Boyd Raper
INTRODUCTION
Born and raised in East Tennessee, in a family with a rich musical heritage, the foundation was
laid for Boyd’s love of Gospel music and singing. Throughout his childhood, his parents
(George, a bi-vocational pastor and Peggy, a homemaker) sang in church choirs, at revivals, at
Homecomings, funerals and at community events. As a child, listening to the adults sing, there is
no doubt they were laying the groundwork for his love of singing and his love of the Lord.
As an adult, Boyd has followed a path similar to his parents’. Since 1975, he has been blessed to
have been a part of numerous musical groups, ranging from trios, quartets, and more recently as a
solo artist. He loves meeting new people and sharing God’s love as he travels wherever the Lord
leads.
Boyd also has several songwriting credits. A song that is particularly special to him is “My
Journey”. It was co-writer by his brother Nolan at age 17 as a letter to their mother as he was ill
and knew he would be going to see Jesus soon. Boyd later worked with his studio musicians in
setting music to those precious words and recorded it as a recitation on his CD entitled the same
name. One of the songs that Boyd has written, “Blackout At Calvary”, has been recognized
in the Top 80 Gospel Songs in the United States in the Singing News Magazine in
November, 2004.
It is Boyd’s intention that his music and singing be a blessing to others and bring praise to our
Lord. It is an honor to provide you with this information and if you would like more data about
Boyd and his solo ministry, please contact him at 931-248-2403 or email: wbr@volfirst.net.
