Brandon Lamar

Biography

This ultra soultry & soulful singer was born June 10th 1986 in Los Angeles, CA. Brandon Lamar has always strived to be the best at what ever he does, introduced to music at a very young age, Brandon lamar has always been fascinated with music. " I've always been fascinated with music and the way it has the ability to make you feel different emotions at any given time, even emotions that you may not have felt in 10 plus years or so". Brandon lamar learned at a very young age ( age 5) that his mind didnt work normally when it came to music, or at least in comparison to other kids his age.

"I remember takin' a long ride to Venice Beach wit' my mother and brother and sittin' in the back seat and being dazed and hypnotized listenin' to the radio and mentally disecting the music apart and the many layers it contained, counting bars in the songs and realizing that music had a mathmatical element to it! At that age no-one taught me what "bars"/"verses"/"hooks"/and "stanzas" were but i automatically had a genius understanding for what it was and that really amazed me". At age 7 Brandon Lamar was given a kareoke machine from his mother for Christmas and from that point on it was a wrap!...."At that point in time my mother had no idea that she was just feeding fuel to the flaming desire I had for music."

Over the years Brandon Lamar's passion for music had grown so much that by the age of 12 he knew that music is what he would persue to make a better life for himself and his family especially after being witness to his mother struggling single handedly to keep him and his brother from being homeless while at the same time trying to maintain a sense of normalcy on a day to day basis. By age 15 he had written his first song after just moving from California and going to school with both Crips and Bloods, to Florida where it was pretty country compared to what he was use to in Cali. Brandon Lamar went through the process of having his homemade tape-deck recording demos rejected or thrown away by every major label which only fueled his hunger to make the best for himself and his family and to show the record label execs. they had turned their nose up to the wrong artist! over the next seven years Brandon Lamar would enhance his skills as a writer/producer/entertainer and by age 21 independently released his first underground record called "Mind of a Genius" which showcases his raw vocal ability to sing and also rap on one of the records. A big fan of his once told him, "you are literally like the best of both worlds! You sing amazingly with a voice that reminds me of a Tyrese or Lyfe Jennings or even sisqo but at the same time, if I was in the mood for some rap music and hearin' hot rhymes I wouldnt even have to change out my CD, I could just turn to another track of yours! You are amazing!"

Now at age 23 and 11 years later after he first made the discision that music was apart of him, Brandon lamar has been blessed enough to open up and perform along side international artists like Marques Houston, Urban Mystic, Calvin richardson and has perfected his craft as a singer/rapper/producer/performer/recording engineer and will stop at nothing to make his destiny come to light. "I'm at a point in my life right now where most other artists would've given up and through in the towel after persuing a dream for so long and not "made it big" yet, but I would have to say that my hunger for what I do is now stronger than it's ever been because I found my sweet spot musically. Just as M. jordan or Kobe bryant find their sweet spots on the court when shooting their 3 pointers, I have found mine when creating my music and right now I think I'm on fire! Being the music junky that I am that was raised up on both hip hop and R&B definately has its advantages in the fact that I actually rap and sing and I plan to let the world be witness to music at its greatest on my first debut album that I'm currently in the process of recording. When people ask me, "why do you rap and sing? Why don't you just do one or the other?" "I tell them because I can, because I am a different breed of an artist and cut from a different cloth. I am an alien in this land of what's considered to be a "normal" musician, and I come in peace....lol."

If you ever wanna see Brandon Lamar shining at his brightest and amaze you beyond belief, just tell him what he "CANT" do.......then watch him work.

Mind of A Genius Pre-Album

A sound of R&B that blurs the line between R&B and hip-hip, particularly dirty south hip hop. Also includes very soulful acapella R&B vocal presentation.
