When you listen to music from Bro Blessed, you are in for a big surprise. You will quickly come to realize that this he is blazing his own musical path. Lyrically, he can’t be compared to anyone else. His beats have their own feel. His songs are fun and impactful. The question arises in your mind… Where did he come from?
The story of Michael “Bro Blessed” McPherson starts out similarly to many other men who were raised by a single mother. As the youngest of four and the only boy, he had the challenge of learning how to grow into a man on his own. Most would say that his mother did an excellent job. He went to school, played basketball, and even demonstrated that he possessed enough talent to entertain crowds of people with music. Michael graduated from high school and after a brief stint in college returned home minus a degree. While working to pay his bills he began following his dream of a rap career. The music scene caused him to rub elbows with some shady characters but Michael remained true to who he was. He was a worker. He was a musician. He was a jokester. He was a party goer. He was your average good guy.
Things were beginning to look up. He left a label that he was signed to, in order to be a partner in a startup company. They were beginning to build a following, and were even starting to hear from some major record labels when his partner dropped an unsuspecting bomb on him. He approached Mike one night and told him that he was through with music. He gave Michael no notice; no explanation except that he was following the Lord. Michael was furious but eventually he was compelled to go to church to see why his friend was changing so drastically. The Word of God struck Mike’s heart and he realized that he was a sinner in need of the Savior. He realized that just because he had been a “good” person that he wasn’t “good” enough to go to heaven. Michael gave his life to God, got married, began studying the Bible, and eventually had two wonderful children. Hence the Brother was Blessed.
God led Michael to start using his gift of music to encourage others to come to Christ. He was given the name Bro Blessed and became the head producer for G-Code Music Ministries. After a period of growth, he began rapping and is scheduled to drop his first solo project on Independence Day. The name of the CD is Dying 2 Live and it has been described by Joshua of G-Code as one of the best CD’s to ever come out of the city of Houston. The concept of the CD stems from the biblical truth that we have to change in order to be born again. On It Hurts Me Bro Blessed vividly depicts how he came to the realization that he needed Jesus. He has a dance song entitled Order My Steps and a host of other songs that are sure to be timeless. Bro Blessed has production credits on the CD and has enlisted the help from such producers as Marv for Mo Beats.
Now that you know where he is coming from, let him encourage you to go where he is going. Dying 2 Live.
