Todd and Melinda Carter are husband and wife singer-songwriters for the Broken Chair Band and cattle ranch, where they ride for the brand every day. Original songs are branded ‘Americowboyfolkgrass’, with Todd on the acoustic bass singing lead vocals and Melinda on acoustic guitar singing harmony. The newest band member, Dani Sue, has awed audiences with her singing. The Broken Chair Band’s songs are inspired by the hardships, lessons and blessings this life brings, weaving tales of folly, wisdom and grace with ranch life. Living the cowboy way, a cowboy longs to hear, ‘job well done’, after a long, hard ride. The family lives on their ranch in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona with their horses and cow dogs, where they raise wholesome ‘natural beef’ for American families. When they’re not workin’ or cowboyin’, they’re pickin’, strummin’ and singin’ as a family!
The curves and twists that life throws our way require dodging the bullets, navigating the rockslides, and gaining wisdom along the trails of life. The Broken Chair Band’s first CD, ‘You Can’t Judge a Heart by Its Cover’ was written, recorded and produced by the duo, each song from the heart. Their second CD, aptly named ‘Work in Progress’, was released Christmas 2009. Their third CD ‘A Harder Place to Leave’ will debut at the 130th Reunion at Blue, AZ July 8-10, 2011.
