Budgy started in 2002 creating numerous pieces experimenting with various genres of electronic music that was mostly scatter-brained and random IDM wonk. In 2004 Budgy finished his first semi-solid album, entitled "Door Tripping." An instant favorite among friends, Door Tripping had a more focused randomness than the previous albums and such was the trend of the following albums. In 2007, Budgy took a new direction - to the skies - into a realm of sci-fi inspired ambient house with the release of the album "Space-Time". The following two albums, "T-Minus" and "Launch X" (the 10th album) were less individual pieces than a continuation to Space-Time. During the summer of 2008 Budgy's "Not Home" provided an retrospective work that embodied the return to earth from the dissociative previous three albums.
The last album produced, "Night Owl," released in April of 2009, was made in a time of calm before the torrential downpour of late 2009 and 2010. It is by far a step above the other albums in that the album is concrete in its idea and crisp in its production. Since then Budgy has performed a few shows (Manayunk, PA in June 2009; Philadelphia Laptop Battle 2009; Broketronica 3-9-10 @ M-Room, PA) but had ceased further productions for the time being due to the complications. With recent events, however, there is a hope for a return this coming summer for the creation of a new venture.
Even after all these years and albums I cannot put a genre tag on my music. I wouldn't have it any other way. I take elements I like and implement them my own way. The genres I borrow from include: minimal techno, ambient, IDM, dub, microhouse and big beat.
