The definition of Sophisticated Soul is often a phrase used to describe Southern California artist Chris Morris. However his diversity reaches far beyond that. As a keyboardist, songwriter, producer and vocalist, his diverse and unique style is drenched in Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Funk and Hip-Hop. He has garnered a reputation as a seasoned veteran who over the years has significantly seen his musical resume expand both as a solo artist and an on demand stage and studio presence.
As a solo artist, Chris' music has reached an International fanbase. Songs like "Wonderful Life," "Let Your Hair Down" and "Sunshine in the Rain" - to name a few - have been featured on blogs, radio and multiple TV spots. In 2010, "Can I Have This Dance?" was featured in the popular video game "Audition Online" where it was heard by millions alongside superstars like Lady Gaga and NeYo. A stream of Music Videos followed over the next couple years along with the release of the album, "Changes," in 2013 and the compilation, "theartofCHRIS: sampler" in 2014. In 2015, Chris' music was featured by the "Dermes" brand on a major TV commercial airing throughout China. And most recently, 4 of his compositions were the soundtrack to the Mobile Manufacturer "Huawei"'s latest campaign in China.
Chris is also an integral part of the all star San Diego based Reggae band Roots Covenant (www.rootscovenant.com). Since joining in 2009, they've performed their catalog of original music and iconic classics to their loyal local fanbase as well as Internationally playing to massive audiences in places like Taiwan and Mexico. Alongside founding member Adrian Cisneros, they are the foundation that regularly surrounds themselves with some of the nation's most respected musicians such as Ivan Garzon, Luis Castillo, Omar Lopez, David Stranger and Danny Dread to name a few. Their latest EP "Divine Light" was released in December 2015.
In addition to Chris' solo endeavors and "Roots Covenant," he is an in-demand presence on both stage and studio. In recent years, he's shared the stage with many notable Reggae bands and legends such as Stranger (www.strangerband.com), Johnny Osbourne, Norris Reid, Earl Zero, The Devastators, Tristan Palma, The Ambassador, Revival, The Melodians, Father Psalms and Little John to name a few. He was a member of the band "Funktuation," a live ensemble rooted in breakbeats and funk music.
Chris is currently writing and recording new music for new solo projects as well as the various other endeavors he's involved in.
