I knew that I had to get in the booth myself!” Telling the story of a pivotal childhood experience, the singer songwriter raps: “my life was threatened molestation tried to take me out / told I would regret it if I ever opened my mouth / I asked the Lord to tell me why it had to be this way / Perhaps to help somebody say/ “I’m Still Here.”
Carl’s influences range from icons such as Stevie Wonder, CeCe Winans, Casting Crowns and more to Hip Hop MC’s Common and LaCrae. He also enjoys a variety from Smokey Norful, Israel Houghton, Isaac Caree to Usher, Jon Legend, Luke James, Maxwell, and Miguel. Carl’s music is diverse and ranges from Urban Contemporary Gospel, Inspirational R&B, Jazz, CCM and more. On the new single “I’m Still Here” Carl comes home to his R&B/Urban Inspiration roots and delivers a hit that will register with listeners of all types. “Everyone has gone through something that could have taken them out. But the fact that we can say “I’m Still Here” means that God kept us for a reason. We can’t deny the past but we can celebrate the fact that we made it through and there’s still so much living to do. “
