Singer, songwriter. Carlington Roberts was born October 12, 1977, in Kingston, Jamaica. His father, Linton Roberts, had been a Preacher but had put aside his Ministry to provide for his family as a Form Worker in the USA. His mother, Hyacinth Roberts, a full time nurse, She also had to put aside her career, and became a stay at home house wife. In the early 80's Carlington began singing when he was six, and emerged as a lead vocalist. He showed remarkable range and depth for such a young performer, impressing audiences with his ability to convey complex emotions.
Behind the scenes, Carlington would push him self to succeed, with the help of his mother and older brother Stephen. Carlington spent endless hours rehearsing and polishing up his act. He mostly listen to Whitney Huston songs, he loved one song in-particular, ie I believe the children is our future. He would perform this song at almost ever events.
Relocating to The USA in November, 1995, Carlington started working on his music. He got saved at the age of 18 years old, attended Gospel Light Apostolic church, in Miami FL, every know and then he would lead praise and worship. Carlington met Dez Rose, a local gospel recording artist in 1996, he would allowed Carlington to be the opening act for his shows. Again Carlington still showed remarkable range and depth in his performance, impressing audiences with his ability to convey complex emotions for the Lord.
Carlington moved on to working an opening act for such Gospel artists. Don Moen, Vickie Winans, John Pkee, Candi Staton, Luther Barns, Canton Jones, Jimmie Higges, Junior Tucker and Papa San. Many of these performers were signed to major record label. In late 2004, six months after his first album release, titled How Can I Say No? Carlington appeared has special guest on TBN hosted by; Steve Brock.
Carlington was blessed with more greater opportunity. After releasing his second album in late 2005, titled SOAR! He had the privilege to minister before great leaders. Bishop Eddie L. Long New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia Georgia, Bishop John Frances Ruach Ministries from London England and Dr. Myles Munroe Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) in Nassau Bahamas.
Carlington earned multiple nominations and awards; Form the 2004 Caribbean Gospel Music Award (CGMA) in the Top Gospel Male Performer Caribbean/USA and Top Gospel Caribbean New Artiste categories, he received an award for Top Caribbean Gospel Male Singer at the 2005 Caribbean Gospel Music Awards ceremony staged in Brooklyn, NY on June 4, 2005, his Hit Song SOAR also was nominated for five awards at the Marlin Awards staged in Nassau Bahamas 2005, On September 2006, Carlington receive an award for best overseas singer of the year at the Maja Awards ceremony staged in Kingston Jamaica at the Hilton Hotel.
To his life God has given direction, and to his gift God has given purpose, his son Giovanni L’J Roberts. Carlington is known as the gospel vocalist
