Having signed with the Florida-based indie label in early 2006, Carlito P. has experienced much in his brief time in the music industry. In just two years, he has participated in two tours of the eastern United States w/ his fellow label-mates and been a part of over one-hundred live events. Since the start of 2007 alone, Carlito has shared the stage with Gotee recording artists KJ-52 and Paul Wright, Group 1 Crew, Crossmovement, T.R.U.T.H., Urban D., and DecembeRadio among others and continues to tour both within the state of Florida and nationally. Musically, he digitally released a promotional solo EP in early 2006 entitled Nuevo Flo and has been featured on over ten different projects over the course of two years. Now in 2008, Carlito P. prepares to release his first solo album under La Familia Muzik, Firestarter (La Leña).
Beyond the musical resume however, Carlito states, “I thank God for the talents he has given me, and I honestly hope people can vibe with and enjoy the music I make. There’s a message in my lyrics that I want people to hear and understand. To break social boundaries, racial boundaries, even religious boundaries. To show this world that God’s Word is very much alive, that His Spirit still moves among us today, and that His promises of salvation and eternal life are real and true. It’s something they must hear. It’s something they must understand. It’s something they must experience for themselves.”
After making several appearances on projects such as SYD’s Pressure and The Hunger’s Back, DJ D-Lite’s 3rd Coast Fiyah Mixtape series and The United Vision Mixtape series, and on stages w/ artists such as Lecrae, Crossmovement, KJ-52, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Group 1 Crew, Paul Wright, and Urban D., Carlito P. has officially released his solo debut project entitled Firestarter under indie label La Familia Muzik.
Featuring hip-hop veterans Tony Stone and K-Drama, the masterful reggaeton sound of Mesianico, and fellow La Familia Muzik labelmates SYD, Ryan Horton, and Verse, Carlito P. serves up his unique flavor of Latin-tinged hip-hop. From the futurisitic reggae track “Stand” to the R&B vibe of “Down For Me” to the heartfelt “Love Of My Life,” Carlito P. demonstrates not only his musical versatility, but also his passionate love for God.
