With “Shade of Blue” Carlo shares his passion for music for an intimate audience.
LMGPOP is proud to announce the recording debut of Chicago based singer, Carlo Chapelle.
“Shade of Blue” recorded over three years in Chicago, Indiana and Manila features an eclectic group of songs including several standards.
The acapella version of “The Nearness of You” which opens “Shade of Blue”, hints at the beauty of what is in store for you, the listener. Other highlights include “God Bless the Child” and the Bergman classic “What are You Doing the Rest of Your Life”, arranged especially for Carlo by well known singer/composer/arranger, Beckie Menzie.
“Shade of Blue” includes covers of the Kevyn Lettau hit “Sunlight”, the guitar/vocal duets “Like a Lover” and “All Caught Up in Love” and the piano/vocal duet, “Any Other Fool”.
Born in Manila, Carlo started his singing career in the church choir with THE group People, Precious and Few choir.
During his tenure with the group, Carlo sang the Tenor part and several solo numbers. The group toured the Philippines and was recorded by the record label, IVORY RECORDS. The title of the LP was "Ama Namin" (Our Father - taken from the song The Lord's Prayer). During recording of “Ama Namin”, Carlo was asked to record for another independent LP entitled, "80's Mega Medley". It was a tribute cover album to the 80's pop hits as we were approaching 1990. Carlo’s solos were the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean” and the dance floor 80's hit "I Beg Your Pardon".
Moving to Chicago in 1991, Carlo attended Palatine High School, where he was a member vocal group called MADRIGAL. As a freshman in Columbia College Chicago, Carlo was a member of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and studied with Bobby Wilsyn , the famed Chicago vocalist.
Since graduating, Carlo has appeared at such clubs as Gentry, Cotton Club, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Davenport’s, The Ramada Hotel, Petterino’s, while also appearing on a local cable show called “Pinoy TV”. Carlo was also honored by being the opening musical act for Philippine singing sensation, Regine Valasquez, when she toured the USA with an appearance at the Gateway Theater
“Shade of Blue” was recorded at Chicago Recording Company and Steel Warehouse Studios.
With this CD debut “Shade of Blue” Carlo shares the intimate moments from Carlo’s inner most feelings and is for those whose love is real, sometimes hard, most times soft to the touch; but always heartfelt.
