CD - Algo Para Entretenerse - by Carlos Gabriel
Carlos Gabriel Cabrera-Rivera, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a graduate of Dr. Francisco Lopez Cruz Foundation in San Juan. He completed the cuatro curriculum (a traditional Puerto Rican string instrument) in three years, a program that normally takes five. Carlos Gabriel has fascinated many audiences at the early age of eleven in many live presentations across the island. He leaves an indelible mark in cuatro music lovers with his pleasant and vibrant sound. In his first recording, he offers classical interpretations from the local literature as well as two songs of his own inspiration. From traditional pieces of Maso Rivera to compositions of Edwin Colon Zayas, Carlos Gabriel embraces his instrument and has as much fun playing it, as you will listening to his music.
This CD includes two songs written by Carlos Gabriel, a mazurka Algo Para Entretenerse and a waltz Amor de Aguila. It also includes a jazz adaptation of Take Me Out to the Ball Game; interpretations of classics such as: Preciosa, En Mi Viejo San Juan, El Flamboyan, Flor de Oriente, El Zorzal, Tribuna Del Arte and Mi Cuatrito. The CD has two pieces by Hector M. Lopez: a plena, Pan y Papa and a guaracha, Gozando En El Taller. Many of Carlos Gabriel's interpretations have a solo, in which he had an open space to record his instantaneous inspirations. The solos in Preciosa and El Zorzal were prepared by Edwin Colon Zayas.
We hope you enjoy Carlos Gabriel's first recording.
