Singer and Songwriter, CarolAnn Barrows has been singing since the day she was born. Her name, translated from French means “Song of Joy and Grace.” As a child she was always singing – at home, in school choirs and in church. She sang as an angel in a Christmas play and thereafter many audience members would praise her work by saying, “She sings like an angel!”
CarolAnn is a third-generation Seattleite with six albums to her credit. She has performed in all of the great Seattle venues including the Paramount, the Fifth Avenue, McCaw Hall Opera House, the Intiman Theatre, and the Key Arena.
CarolAnn’s latest CD, Beings of Light, has been very well received. Accompanied by Celtic harp and flute, CarolAnn’s crystal clear voice weaves its way right into the heart and refreshes the soul in a musical embrace of peace. All but two of the songs are in the form of chant and invite listeners into a state of grace. The sweet simplicity of repetition serves as a refuge where souls can rest, where they can gather their strength for the journey ahead – wherever it may lead. Each set of lyrics and rhythms are pleasantly different with its own charm: “Being of Light”, CarolAnn’s ode to her new born son, is sweet and inspiring, while “Blessing” is tranquil and meditative. CarolAnn’s exquisitely beautiful acapella rendition of “Over the Rainbow” is nothing short of spiritually illuminating.
