Ceci* Redmann Whitehurst
Ceci was born on December 7, 1960 in New Orleans, where she lived until moving to Mississippi in 1985. Her mother was Mexican, of French and Spanish descent. Her father was Irish-German. She grew up in a musical family with seven siblings.
Ceci started playing guitar when she was 12. Influences/ favorites include Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, The Roches, Randy Newman, and Elvis Costello, to name a few. She began writing songs in college and sang in the choir. Ceci has been in the bands “Midlife Crisis”, “High Lonesome”, “The Wigged Out Shy Band”, and “Something Else”, a female trio group which released a CD called “Outta the Box” in 2001. Recent performances include Hal & Mal’s Singer Songwriter Night in Jackson, Mississippi and Cups Coffee House in Brandon, Mississippi.
“Neapolitan Blues” is Ceci’s first solo CD. It includes songs on about infatuation, bad choices, joy,
and heartache. All were written by Ceci and arranged/ produced by Gregg Johns. The title track of the CD, “Neapolitan Blues”, was a winner in American Songwriter Magazine’s lyric contest (March/April 2012).
Ceci’s sound is a blend of folk, rock, pop, and blues.
Ceci also sings with “Slychosis”, a progressive rock group from Brandon, Mississippi. Her vocals are featured on two of their CD’s -“Slychedelia” and “Mental Hygiene”.
Ceci is married and has three children and one granddaughter. Ceci is all about music, family, friends, and fun…Hope you enjoy her songs.
