CHAPMAN is a singer, songwriter, producer and remixer hailing from the UK, once described as Crosby, Stills and Nash meets The Rotary Connection.
The man Afrika Bambataa described as 'Funky with a fresh vocal style that makes you go into yourself' and by Gavin Martin in The Daily Mirror as 'Richly Rewarding'
CHAPMAN wrote his first song aged 5 on the inside of a shoebox lid and cut his teeth in local folk clubs. After scoring a dance hit with SCOPE and signing his next band MacArthur to Dave Stewart's Artist Network Label, working with members of P-Funk and Oasis, MacArthur's album masters fell into the hands of the official receiver. This ultimately made CHAPMAN decide to go solo.
The result was Unexploded Bombshell (2006) a hauntingly beautiful album that received Radio 2 airplay and sparked a single 'Burning Bridges'. His next release, was an ambitious 3 album trilogy, with all three albums released simultaneously on the same day in April 2010. Subtitled The Mr Ballad Trilogy, it featured the same 11 songs interpreted over 3 stylistically different albums. The Amplification of Mr Ballad used a full band set-up, The Bare Bones of Mr Ballad presented the songs acoustically and The Remix of Mr Ballad remixed the tracks for the dancefloor.
In July 2010, CHAPMAN began his weekly live acoustic YouTube show, The Bare Bones Sessions. Every Friday at Noon GMT he plays two tracks, the first a brand new original song written in the week leading up to the session and a cover track, selected at random from requests made by his Facebook Fans, Twitter Followers and YouTube subscribers, all played in a stripped-down 'Bare Bones' style.
His YouTube channel receives over 10000 views a week and he uses each session to showcase new material making the track available for download after the show and to engage with his audience by playing their requests.
As well as writing material for a new album CHAPMAN is currently working on a feature film soundtrack, TV projects as well as writing songs for other artists.
