Cherie Oakley

Cherie Oakley began singing at the age of 3. She spent her childhood traveling full time performing with her family while her father was an evangelist. She performed everywhere from churches to state fairs, and festivals to Off Broadway in musical theater. In 2002 Cherie moved to Nashville, TN to work on developing herself as a songwriter. She became an established session singer around town before she was hired to travel full time as a background vocalist for country artist and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. Cherie has performed as a background vocalist for Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich and James Otto. She can also be heard singing background vocals on numerous albums. In 2010 Cherie began focusing on developing her sound as an artist and co/wrote the song "Turn On The Radio". Reba McEntire heard the tune and phoned Cherie personally asking to record it. "Turn On The Radio" was the first single to be released by Reba McEntire from her album "All The Women I Am". The song slowly climbed the charts reaching #1 on Billboard and Country Air Check Dec. 2010 and remained there through Jan. 2011. Cherie later went on to release her original version to iTunes and also can be heard singing background vocals on Reba's version. In April 2011 Cherie performed as a contestant on NBC's hit television show "The Voice" where she was chosen to be mentored by Christina Aguilera. Since then, she has focused her time and energy on writing and recording for her debut album "I'm Here To Stay", set to be released in October of 2012.
