Cheryl Wood is a Certified Yoga Therapist living and teaching in California's "redwood empire" region in the picuresque town of Garberville in Humboldt County, California
After moving to Garbervillle from the Bay Area, she attended the nearby Heartwood Institute's three week Yoga Intensive training program. She was privileged to train under Gayna Uransky, a certified Iyengar teacher whose nearly 40 years of teaching experience offered her invaluable instruction and discipline. After completing her training and receiving her 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certificate, she began weekly classes at the nearby Sohum Yoga Center (started by Gayna in 2002).
She subsequently completed an intensive Yoga Therapy Training at the Ananda Seva Mission in Santa Rosa. She is certified with 500 Hours Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with an emphasis in Yoga Therapy. She now offers therapeutic yoga for a variety of common conditions such as stress, cancer, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, stroke, obesity, pain management and more. Yoga therapy is also very beneficial for managing and healing a variety of psychological conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, and bi-polar disorder. As she puts it:
“Being in a high stress career for most of my adult life, Yoga has been a refuge for me. I wish to share my love of Yoga and the healing power it can bring.”
